WILDE FOR YOU by Marianne Rice

The Wilde Sisters, Book 3

Publisher: Limitless Publishing

Release Date: May 31, 2016

Event planner Sage Wilde has lots of lists and no time for a relationship…

Precise to a fault, Sage plans everything—meetings, meals, and sex. But when she learns her youngest sister can’t carry a child, she steps up and commits to the role of a surrogate mother. It’s not out of sentiment, because Sage doesn’t do love or touchy-feely, but out of practicality. She doesn’t plan on marrying or having children, so why not rent out her unused space, right?

Luke Riley is a sexy firefighter who’s looking for love in all the wrong places…

Luke’s morning gets a little brighter when he’s called to a clinic and spots a blonde beauty wearing killer red boots. Though she doesn’t seem interested, he manages to introduce himself. It’s unusual for a woman to push away his advances, but Luke is attracted to her confident nature and strong personality. It’s not long before he wears her down, and she finally agrees to a date.

Who says you can’t mix work with pleasure?

Sage blames her growing affections for Luke on pregnancy hormones. But one last hurrah before her belly swells sounds like a well-deserved thrill. After a few passionate nights, the line between love and lust begins to blur—leaving her more confused than ever.

Luke is mesmerized by her keen wit and social charm. She may claim not to want children, but when she befriends his troubled foster sister, it proves there’s a heart inside of Sage waiting to be loved.

Will Sage’s surrogacy unlock her willingness to commit? Or will Luke stand by as the woman he loves plans a future without him?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Marianne Rice writes contemporary romances set in small New England towns. Her heroes are big and strong, yet value family and humor, while her heroines are smart, sexy, sometimes a little bit sassy, and are often battling a strong internal conflict. Together, they deal with real life issues and always, always, find everlasting love. When she’s not writing, Marianne spends her time buying shoes, eating chocolate, chauffeuring her herd of children to their varying sporting events, and when there’s time, cuddling with her husband, a drink in one hand, a romance book in the other.

Character Inspiration – Meet the Voices in my Head #LifeBooksWriting

‘Inspired by’ can mean many things. A movie ‘inspired by true events’ may have little in common with what actually happened. So when I say the hero in my upcoming release, Wildfire Hurricane, was inspired by Daryl Dixon and Eliot Spencer, don’t expect to see a crossbow wielding ex-mercenary chef. Often my characters are sparked by a quirk from another fictional person—or maybe even a real one—but end up becoming someone entirely different. But that’s how it should be. I don’t want to write a carbon copy of Daryl. I want a man who can hold his own against whatever I, as an author, throw at him. That being said, here are some of the people—real or not—who have inspired my characters in some way.

Dash Ryder – Daryl Dixon and Eliot Spencer

Wildfire Hurricane is what happens when a squeamish romance writer gets hooked on The Walking Dead. It took me a while to see Daryl’s appeal, and I actually liked his personality better than his appearance. The man needs a shower. I took his asskicker hero approach and blended it with Eliot’s seething anger to create Dash, who somehow ended up being a poet. I don’t know where the hell that came from, but the bastard insisted. He gets what he wants.

Simone Leveque – Michonne

Dash needed a strong woman to put up with his shit. When I named her Simone, which sounded like Michonne, I immediately got a picture of her. Yes, she’s African-American. Yes, I liked that. I’m more attracted to her than to Daryl, but we won’t go there. 😉

Kurt Langston – David, my husband

Kurt first appeared in JT and Claire’s book, Let It Ride. When I made him an IT guy, I pictured David, the awkward, bumbling, sexy scientist from Friends. As I wrote him, he took on a lot of my IT guy husband’s personality, especially his Star Wars geekery.

Kurt

Destiny D’argo– Phoebe Bouffay

I’ve always wanted to write a Phoebe character. She’s my favorite Friend, and I love her goofy, free-spirit attitude. I originally imagined her as a blonde, but I didn’t have a name for her. A friend suggested Destiny, and I knew she was no blonde—and she wasn’t white. Like Simone, I couldn’t tell Destiny who she was. My women have minds of their own.

Destiny

JT Luck – JT Maxwell

JT Maxwell appeared in one episode of the short-lived TNT series, King and Maxwell, but he was played by my muse and favorite actor, Christian Kane, so I couldn’t easily forget him. I didn’t know much about JT Maxwell, so I mostly used his appearance for my JT. I have no complaints.

King and Maxwell Claires JT1

Alex Sheridan – Lindsey McDonald

My baddest bad boy was inspired by my all-time favorite villain, Lindsey McDonald, from Joss Whendon’s Buffy spin-off, Angel. What makes Lindsey so fascinating is his conflict. He’s not purely bad, but he’s definitely not good. He’s often described as morally ambiguous, and when one of my reviewers used the same words about Alex, I knew I did him right. Or wrong, as he’d prefer. Hell, Alex is just happy to get done.

Will Barnett and Jack Wheeler – Eliot Spencer

Eliot Spencer, from Leverage, has a dark and troubled past, much of it a mystery. Speculation about his experiences appears in two of my favorite characters, Will and Jack. Their books are entirely different from each other, but they both keep dark secrets and have suffered enormous pain. Eliot helped me dig into their souls and bring their troubles to life.

Austin Sinclair – Lindsey McDonald/Christian Kane

My most popular bad boy was inspired by a ‘what if’ question. What if Lindsey hadn’t been recruited by Wolfram and Hart? I kept his nastier urges and explored the naughty boy charm that might’ve come to life if he’d taken another path. I also used what little I knew about Christian Kane’s personality to give Austin his dirty playfulness.

Christian Kane cute grin

Characters are the most important part of my writing, so I have to know them inside and out. Getting inspiration from another person helps, but it’s just a starting point. After the initial spark, they grow on their own, many times beyond my control. That’s when I know I’m doing them right.

Dark Romance and Sports Comedy on my Bookshelf #LifeBooksWriting

I was supposed to start writing this blog series last week, but my website was down due to technical issues, the biggest one being an ID10T error. I have since resolved that, and I’m back with a bang. Last’s week’s topic was My Writing Room, but since my writing ‘room’ is a butt print on my couch, you didn’t miss much.

kilt4This week’s topic is my bookshelf and my latest reads. My actual bookshelf is loaded with trashy romance novels, most of them historical, and most of those Scottish. Men in kilts—and out of them. Rawr. I keep my current reads on my Kindle. I love ebooks. They satisfy my need for instant gratification, and I can take my library wherever I go. I do most of my reading on my lunch break, 30 minutes 5 days a week. That’s not much, but the rest of my free time is designated to writing, and I won’t let anything disrupt that.

Currently, I’m reading two vastly different series: The Monster Trilogy by Marissa Farrar and The Pucked Series by Helena Hunting. I don’t usually read series. I like variety, so after I finish one book, I read the next in the other series.

Defaced is the first book in The Monster Trilogy. I’d never read a dark romance before, and this book came highly recommended. Marissa is a Facebook friend, and I’ve gotten to know her a bit. She’s smart, determined, and an excellent business woman. She’s also a great writer. Defaced made me uncomfortable but in a way that kept me going. I had to know how Lily and Monster overcame their challenges. The romance is beautiful and hot—just the way I like it. I bought the second book, Denied, as soon as it came up for preorder. Yes, I’m hooked on this series. I haven’t read Denied yet, but I will. I’m dealing with some health issues right now, so I don’t want to read anything heavy. I need fluff. Hmm…maybe I’ll look through my collection of kilted hotties.

Pucked is the first book in The Pucked Series. It’s a sports comedy. Not a hint of darkness anywhere. Violet cracked me up and Alex is hawt. The first sex scene melted my panties. I didn’t expect much from the story, but the depth of the romance surprised me. I just finished the second book, Pucked Up. It’s not as crudely hilarious as the first, but it’s still entertaining and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to reading Pucked Over.

Next week’s topic is Six Marketing Tips. Ha. No. Skipping that. I know zilch about marketing, and I’d rather write for readers. The week after that is—ooo—Character Inspiration. There we go. Expect lots of man candy pictures. Enjoy!

Kurt Langston spent one night of hot, decadent sex with the love of his life. But she chose someone else. He’s sworn off relationships for good, preferring the company of online friends he’s never met, his only connections made through the internet. So when Destiny falls into his arms—literally—he lets her go. Love has no place in his life plan.

Destiny D’argo has no plans. No goal, no future aspirations. Just wing it. Her graphic design business pays the bills—barely—and her part-time waitress job fulfills her minimal need for personal interaction. She has no use for schedules or commitments, especially to a guy who happened to make a lucky catch. So why can’t she stop thinking about Kurt?

Their paths intersect again and again, and they can’t keep their hands off each other. Neither one of them wants this, but fate doesn’t seem to care. Can a free-spirited artist make a real connection with a structured computer genius? Or are they doomed from the start?

Home Is Where the Heat Is #FREE!

For the first time ever, my MFM ménage romance is FREE! But only on Amazon and only for 2 days. This is a companion novel to The Twisted Mosaic series. A lot of readers wanted to know more about Claire, so here she is, along with two men who can’t get enough of her.

homeheat3Dtransparent

The Twisted Mosaic’s reader favorite, Claire, has some twisted fun of her own.

Dependable paralegal Claire O’Connor knows the man of her dreams is out there waiting for her, and she’s ready for him. Imagine her surprise—and delight—when she discovers not one but two men who lust for her. One adores her; the other challenges her. One makes sense; the other is a gamble.

Despite the family tragedy that shaped his past, JT Luck has only known professional success. His personal life, however, is a failure. He doesn’t want a relationship, and while his ‘let it ride’ attitude keeps most women at a distance, Claire is eager to roll with him.

But when she finds out Kurt Langston, the office’s resident computer geek, harbors a secret crush for her, she wonders if he’s the safer bet. Kurt doesn’t get close to people, and his feelings for Claire make no sense in his carefully ordered life. His unexpected bond with JT pushes him to take chances he never imagined.

Go all-in or go home? Either way, the heat could be more than they can handle.

FREE today and tomorrow, 12/27-28/15. Get it while it’s hot.

Trashy’s letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I’m not going to tell you I tried to be a good girl because we both know that’s not true. All I want for Christmas this year is a girl for Kurt. You and I know who she is, but they’re being stubborn about it. So give them each a kick in the ass and tell them Trashy knows best.

Oh, and if you find it in your heart to leave a little something for me in my stocking here’s a hint:

Yes, more than one. No, I don’t know what greedy means.

I’ll try to be a good girl next year… oh, what’s the point? Get under that mistletoe and give Mrs. Claus a big one. 😉

Love,

Trashy

How Trashy Uses Her Men

Every time I write a male secondary character, he ends up getting his own book. Sometimes I do that intentionally, but usually I fall in love with the guy and can’t let him go. This happened with Jack, who first appeared as Austin’s best friend in Tell Me You Want Me. Before I’d finished with Austin, I’d fallen for Jack, so I gave him the woman of his dreams in Secret Storm.

When I started writing the Tell Me sequel, Tell Me You Want Forever, I created a guy to tempt Jane. I’m only on chapter ten, but he did his job so well that I’ve already got plans for his book. So yeah, I’m deliberately using him.

Kurt, who will appear in my upcoming release, Home is Where the Heat Is, stole my heart as well. I’m not surprised. The geek is based on my own personal IT guy. I don’t have a story for him yet, but if my readers want one, I’ll make sure they get it.

Heat releases May 19 and it’s the first time a secondary female made the trip to her own book. Claire makes her first appearance in Their Twisted Love, and she has a major trashy role in His Twisted Choice. The entire series is available now on Amazon, B&N, iTunes, Smashwords and pretty much anywhere else you want to look for it. The first book, Her Twisted Pleasures, is 99 cents.

Including today, there are 56 days until release day. That’s plenty of time to read the entire Twisted Mosaic and the bonus stories in the omnibus. I hope it’ll spark your interest in Claire, JT, and Kurt (yes, three 😉 ). If you want to feel the Heat, start with some Twisted Pleasures.
