#NewRelease! ALPHA PREZ AND THE FIRST LADY’S SECRET WEAPON by Kendall Grey

alpha-prez_cover

With guns like these, who needs the Second Amendment?

Terrorism. Corruption. Lawlessness.

Criminals are literally getting away with murder while career congressmen sit in their ivory towers, wringing their hands, calling each other names, and pointing fingers.

The American people are fed up with the same old empty promises from politicians. It’s time to elect a president who will kick some ass.

Enter Jake Hammer, the sexy-as-hell senator and presidential hopeful from Massachusetts. His stance on combating terrorism is as hard as his abs. His commitment to pound purveyors of corruption into submission makes his constituents swoon. His vow to nail criminals leaves female citizens breathless.

With a landslide sweep of the Electoral College, Jake and his mysterious new bride Setta are heading to the White House, but neither the president nor the first lady are what they seem. When a dangerous enemy from his past returns, their marriage may not be the only thing under fire. The country he worked so hard to save could go up in smoke.

Now, more than ever, the United States needs a hero.

Alpha Prez to the rescue.

* This action/adventure story contains adult language, a sizzling side of hot sex, and lots of law breaking. It is not appropriate for readers under the age of 18.

** No politicians, political parties, or feelings (I hope!) were harmed during the making of this novel. This story was written in good fun and is not intended to push any political agenda.

*** Laugh! It’s better than crying. 🙂

Intelligent Smut – An excerpt from INHALE by Kendall Grey

I scored a steamy excerpt from INHALE, the first book of Kendall Grey’s amazing urban fantasy romance trilogy, Just Breathe. Enjoy!

INHALE_cover_large_medium_resolutionShe looked up and sighed. “You.”

A soft wind brought a whiff of flowers to his nose. His nostrils widened to catch more of her scent.

Gathering his wits, he stepped closer. “I came to apologize.” He circled her once as he spoke, but she didn’t track his movement. “I’m sorry about how I acted the other night.” He stopped in front of her and dropped into a crouch. “I can be a right bastard sometimes.”

She peered around him at the ocean.

He planted his arse next to her. The warm thrum of her heady call stirred his guts. He swallowed hard and pushed as close to her as he thought he could get away with, leaving a hand’s breadth between them. Toes half-buried in the cool sand, he rested his elbows on bent knees.

She turned to him. Lids blinked in slow motion, lips parted with subtle invitation. The corners of her mouth turned up, and her eyes narrowed on his, brighter than diamonds. The crow’s feet lining them deepened with her smile. She grasped his shoulder and pressed her lips to his without warning.

Whoa.

The kiss slapped him silly, but sparked hunger drove his confusion away. A gentle urgency radiated from the softness of her mouth and into his. Her song kicked up, the connection intensified, and he got so lost in her lips, he’d need a map to find his way back.

She caressed his face with one hand, clutched his shoulder with the other. “When I wake up tomorrow, you’ll be gone. That’s why this is safe,” she mumbled against his mouth.

True, but not for the reasons she thought. As long as she believed he was just a dream, she should be pretty safe from the Fyres in Realis. But if she found out the truth and started looking for him—

She caught his lips with another kiss, this one deeper, like the ocean in summer, warm and filling. He should break away before she lured him all the way through the trapdoor.

He pulled back. “You’re right. I am a dream. But we can’t get…involved, you and me.”

Her eyes narrowed. “Of course we can.” She licked her lips. A hand landed on his cock and stroked it through his cargo shorts.

Instant hard-on.

Fucking hell.

He had no idea what his body was doing or why, but it felt damn good. His breath rushed in short bursts. Glancing up to the sky, he sent his Dreamsense on a search for Fyre Elementals while his lips went on a quest of their own.

Greedy for more of the hum, he pushed her head to the side with his nose and nuzzled her neck, drinking the luscious sound emanating through her throat. Vibrations swam into him, drowning him like an undertow.

But this desire was nothing like the burn he’d felt with the girl at Mike’s the other night. This was Water-driven passion, emotional and deep. It shook him from the inside out.

And he was only dreaming. What would it be like to have this woman in Realis?

Had to stop thinking about—

The muse’s hands moved to his chest and pushed him down. On his back with lips held captive by hers, he cupped her cheek. The sand eased outward under their combined weight.

He ran his fingers from the base of her spine up to her neck, then tangled them in her hair. Goddamn, she was beautiful.

Dreamsense. Where had it run off to? He closed his eyes and tried to focus. “We really shouldn’t—”

The muse straddled him. She dipped her tongue into his mouth with calculated softness. Her lips drove him to an aching crescendo. His rock-hard cock throbbed against her pelvis, a fast-dying sense of decency the only thing keeping him from thrusting into her.

She stroked his erection. “You’re so hard.” The whisper floated across his teeth, and lips came for him again.

Jesus Christ. Working him up and down through his cargo shorts, her hand coaxed him toward ecstasy, her aura blazing bright blue. He sensed Water dancing under her skin like a bubbling spring. He wanted to lap up every last drop.

Fuck the Fyre Elementals.

Trashy guest… Sinnder – Just Breathe

Just Breathe Banner Horiz 600x225 aWelcome to the Just Breathe world tour! I’m so excited because I scored an interview with everyone’s favorite elemental bad boy, Sinnder! Enjoy! Also, check out the giveaway and video below.

What were you like as a child?

It’s been 1,000 years. My memories are fuzzy.

Who was your first love?

My wife.

How old were you when you lost your virginity? What was that like?

18. Messy.

When was the last time you got laid? Details. 😉

An hour ago. Also messy, but in an entirely different way.

Explain your obsession with Zoe (and Gavin).

I find the duality of Zoe’s determination vs. her uncertainty…invigorating. I’d like to test her limits, see how far I’d have to push before she breaks. Gavin carries a lot of Fire. I wouldn’t mind a taste of it. Together, Zoe and Gavin’s chemistry…intrigues me.

Have you ever cheated on a lover? Why/why not?

No. It’s not cheating if you’re not in a relationship. As for my wife, I loved her. Cheating never crossed my mind.

Are you dominant or submissive? Would you ever switch?

I’m whatever you need me to be. If your Fire gets off on dominating me, bring on the pain.

Can I tie you up?

Only if I can have skin contact.

What’s your secret talent?

*Smiles* If I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret.

What’s your biggest fear?

Letting go.

What’s next for you?

I wish I knew.

I heard Sinnder has his own book series in the works. Yum!

Trashy scoop! Steamy excerpt from Just Breathe by Kendall Grey

This needs no introduction. Enjoy the dripping gooey goodness. 😉

Just_Breathe_600X900She opened the lid on the tub of ice cream and dug some out. “I’m gonna show you how to make a real American hot fudge sundae.” She gestured at the bed with her spoon. “This could get messy.”

Intrigued, he sat up. “Messy’s never stopped me before.”

She poured the steaming chocolate fondue sauce over two scoops of vanilla. Gathering a big spoonful, she said, “We really need maraschino cherries and coconut shavings, but this’ll do.”

Without warning, Zoe tossed the covers aside, straddled his naked body, and wiggled the loaded spoon before his lips. He barely had time to appreciate the punch of his erection under her weight before she shoved the utensil in.

He clamped down on the metal, his lip ring clicking against it. Grinning around the hot-cold combination, he sucked down the sweetness and tossed the spoon onto the table. Not nearly as bad as he expected.

Zoe smiled. His cock stretched beneath her warm core. He shifted his hips.

He stirred his index finger through the chocolate river flowing down the sides of the vanilla igloo and held it up. Gooey goodness dripped. With an eyebrow hop, he streaked a brown line down her cheek.

She squealed as he licked it off. “You did not!”

“I did.”

Her laughter warmed the room. It felt so fucking good to forget about the rest of the world, if only for a few minutes.

Zoe switched out the ice cream for the chocolate pot and settled her arse on his erection. “My turn.”

Oh, hell fucking yes.

His muse painted simple pictures across his chest—waves, fish, whale flukes. She tilted her head as she worked, adding details here and there. When she returned her gaze to his, a blush flooded her cheeks.

The water imagery wasn’t lost on him. Nor the fact that she used pictures instead of words. It was how she experienced the world—symbols, not letters—a product of her ‘disease’ as she called it.

He looked at his chest and smiled. “You have a beautiful mind, Zed.”

The red in her cheeks deepened. She leaned down and ran her tongue over a heart she’d drawn. His skin ignited.

She straightened. “You have a beautiful and tasty body.”

“That’s just the ice cream.”

“No. Not the ice cream. You.”

With a quick shrug, she lost the top. His cock pressed against her now-damp cotton underwear, urging him to take action. Fuck, he wanted to bury his face in her. Make her come until he drained her dry.

Instead, he sank onto his back, dragged her into the chocolate mess on his chest, and kissed her. As he licked at her mouth under the guise of searching for more sweetness, his hands wandered south and eased the fabric down to her calves, stopping on the return trip to squeeze a fistful of arse. She kicked the panties off.

His body liquefied, poured into hers. Tongues merged in and out, over lips and teeth. She nipped at his lip ring, which riled his hungry cock even more. It slid against her slick core, eager to dive in.

The first time they’d had sex without a condom in his car had been a beautiful tragedy of broken promises, desperate wanting, and dreams made real, only to be crushed moments later. Now, as he indulged in every inch of her skin, every twitch, every curve, he took nothing for granted. This was their moment. They may never have another like it. He allowed himself to enjoy it.

Knowing he’d bust a nut the moment he got inside her, he detoured to prolong the magic. He broke free of her searching kiss and rolled her onto her back. Hair spread around her head, and her lids lowered, slow as a Texan’s drawl. Getting to his knees, erection pointing at her, he grabbed the chocolate and began a little art project of his own.[KG1]

She took his shaft in hand and stroked it while he went to work writing words on the canvas of her skin. God damn, she made it hard to concentrate.

Languid giggles rolled out of her when he touched a sensitive spot, but she never let go of his hard-on. He actually stopped her a couple of times to keep himself from coming. His muse’s needs would be seen to first. As many times as necessary to keep her satisfied.

Inside her wrist, he wrote ‘strength.’ ‘Bite’ across her shoulder. ‘Breathe’ down the side of her neck. ‘Worship’ on the top of her foot and up her ankle.

She giggled a lot for that one.

Priming the line of one of her ribs with a long, lazy lick, he feasted on the Water churning below the skin. Gods, so beautiful. He labeled it as such with chocolate finger paint.

He took his time doodling ‘possess’ in the space between her belly button and the glistening wetness waiting for him in the folds below. Her breath rushed and knees jerked as he exhaled across that tender flesh. He barely resisted sucking the chocolate off and diving into her core.

“Gavin,” she whispered, her eyes glazed. A hand ran through his hair. “I want you to make love to me.”

“One more,” he said as he scaled her body up to her lips. He hovered over her on all fours and dipped in for a soft kiss.

Water flowed like a lazy river through her aura. Across her heart, he wrote the word her blue symbolized: ‘love.’

Ménage Erotica: what kind of arrangement do you like?

I have a confession to make. Writers are supposed to be widely read in the genre they write in, but I’ve never read a ménage a trois romance. Not because I wasn’t interested. Believe me—I’m interested. I didn’t know they existed until I wrote one. (Blame my repressed and sheltered upbringing.)

My first multi-partner sex scene appears in the story, Midnight Rendezvous’, which is the lead story in my couples’ erotica anthology, The Devil Made Me Do It. I had a lot of fun writing it, and I think I did it pretty well because I’ve (ahem) researched the subject extensively. I also wrote a ménage scene in Her Twisted Pleasures. That one goes into more detail and… how shall I say… explores my heroine’s dark side.

But they’re both MFM scenes, which means that the woman is the center of all the sexual attention (yeah baby, I like that idea) with no contact between the men. It never occurred to me to write sex between the guys because they’re competing for her. “I can make her come harder” and that kind of thing.

I wrote an FFM scene once. Apparently I did that pretty well too because the story won an erotica contest—by two votes. I may do it again, if the mood strikes me. Actually, I’ll only write it if it fits the story and the character. (But the character is a guy, so I don’t think he’ll complain. 😉 )

My point is (yes, I do have one) there are three ways to do threesomes, but I’ve only explored 2/3 of them. What am I missing? I read one MMF story, Stifle by Kendall Grey (HAWT), and I kinda liked it. (Okay, I really liked it. *drool*) I think I need to research the subject further and expand my horizons. 😉

What’s your favorite ménage combination: MFM, MMF, or FFM? Any recommended reading?

Excerpt – EXHALE by Kendall Grey

I’m wrapping up with excerpt week with a slut-worthy (love that) passage from Kendall Grey’s Exhale, Book Two in the Just Breathe series.

A bucket of iced champagne sweated on a low-slung glass coffee table in front of a long, blue-upholstered couch. Zoe’s overnight bag sat on the floor beside a small black duffel at the foot of a king-sized bed. Dainty chocolates adorned monster pillows at the headboard, and the corners of the sheets were folded back. Matching ‘His and Hers’ robes draped across the thick, royal blue comforter.

Gulp.

Seeking refuge against the now-closed door, Zoe swept a hand across her forehead, brushing some windblown wisps of hair out of her eyes. Gavin dropped the key and his sunglasses next to a bulbous green lamp on a dresser and turned to her, his colorful, tattooed arms swinging with the spin.

He closed the distance between them, then reached around her head, loosened the rubber band, and tugged it free. Hair tumbled down her back. Heat prickled her skin as a whiff of his woodsy cologne set her belly alight. The loud clack of a lock snapping into place rang out from somewhere near her right arm.

Trapped with Mr. Perfect.

Zoe’s heart raced. Dropping her gaze to the floor, she inhaled a sharp breath. He peeled open the jacket still hanging on her shoulders and slid it off. The leather fell into a heap behind her. What was he—

Thumbs wriggled through the belt loops on either side of her hips and pushed her flush against the door. One black boot appeared between her feet. The other planted itself in the carpet to the left of her right shoe. She looked up to protest. His lips landed on hers, gentle as a falling feather. Breath shuddered out through her nose, and her eyes drifted closed as he staked his claim on her mouth.

Umm…sold.

Jitterbugs swarmed her stomach. She reveled in the rhythm of each tiny movement of his mouth as if they’d done this a thousand times before. Which, they sort of had. In her dreams. But dreams weren’t real, and this…so…was.

Her cheeks and ears flushed with fast-pumping blood. His pierced bottom lip, which she’d been dying to taste again, hypnotized her into performing a precarious balancing act between girlish retreat and slut-worthy acceptance of any- and everything he might put up for auction tonight.

A moan vibrated between their mouths, and she realized with embarrassment, it came out of her. She opened her eyes and pulled away, wiping her lips with the back of a hand.

Thanks, Modesty, for the interruption. Your late arrival was poorly timed, but much appreciated.

If the kiss had gone on much longer, she would have straight-up jumped his ass.

He looked down at her, his thumbs still holding her hips by the belt loops, a steady couple of inches away from his steaming hot body.

Breathless, she focused on the lip ring. Big mistake. He licked it.

Thank you, sir. May I have another?

“What was that for?” It took a few seconds, but her senses returned and reminded her of his distance only moments before. Was he buttering her up for sex? Rock stars were notorious users. Maybe he was grooming her to be his next victim.

She couldn’t take much more of the mixed signal shit.

He stepped closer, eyes rippling blue. At five foot eleven, Zoe wasn’t short, but he had a good five or six inches on her. And if his physical stature didn’t dwarf her, his epic hotness was the perfect stand-in. “It’s eleven fifty-two.”

Did she imagine desire hanging thick in his voice, or was that husky tone the result of scream-singing on stage for an hour? Had to be the singing.

“You gonna turn into a pumpkin at midnight or something?” Look away, damn it. Be strong. She stuffed both hands in her front pockets, but he didn’t let her go. Instead, he leaned in even further, heat rising off his sweat-drenched shirt in the cool, air-conditioned room.

“When I woke up this morning, I promised myself I’d kiss you before this day ended.” He tugged her hips to his with a jerk. Holy freaking hell. “Eleven fifty-two.”

Guest Post – The Necessity of Planning by Kendall Grey

Inhale, the first book in Kendall Grey’s urban fantasy romance triolgy Just Breathe, doesn’t release until May 1, 2012, but it’s already getting a ton of buzz on Facebook, Twitter, and Good Reads. I asked her how she did it. Please welcome my friend, Kendall Grey!

The Necessity of Planning in the Self-Publishing World

Thanks so much, Amelia, for asking me to write about my self-publishing experiences. I don’t know all the answers, but I’m learning a ton as I make my way through the process.

I wrote an urban fantasy romance entitled INHALE, which is due out on May 1, 2012. I have no idea whether it will be a success or not. Eventually, sales will determine the book’s value, but until the world proves me wrong, I’ll do like the Journey song says and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

When I decided to self-publish, I developed a marketing plan early on. I jumped all over social media like Facebook and Twitter, and quickly discovered that if you’re a writer, you have to be a visible force on Goodreads. Duh, people who read use that site!

Even before I had a cover, I posted INHALE’s blurb and details on Goodreads and let people in my social networks know it was there. As of this writing, the book has 148 adds—mostly “To Reads” since it’s not out yet. I think posting information early and having some good reviews really boosted those numbers. Also, someone (Cthulu bless you, whoever you are!) put INHALE on the “Most Expected Romance Titles 2012” and “Most Anticipated Books of 2012 (PNR, UF & PNYA)” lists on Goodreads. I may have gotten a few adds from that. FYI, anyone can add a book to a list, so if you are an author who wants to get noticed, toss your name into the hat and pimp it to friends who might vote for you.

I scoured the Interwebs four months ahead of my release day and composed a list of book reviewers that a) read my genre, and b) accept self-published works. This took me a week. Literally, a week. I wrote semi-personalized cover letters that included my title, genre, back cover blurb, and links to excerpts. I ended emails with a quick note that all profits from sales of my trilogy will be donated to whale education. I’m pretty sure the donation mention snagged a couple of reviewers off the fence and into my playground.

I requested reviews from 132 people/groups. I’ve secured a little over half of them. I don’t expect to hear from the rest.

All five of the reviews that have been posted on Goodreads so far are very complimentary 5-star reviews. I would love to say these great marks are because my book is so awesome, but honestly, I think it’s because the professionals I hired to help me are so awesome.

<<<TANGENT ALERT!>>>

A lot of readers complain about poor quality in indie/self-published books. I cannot stress this enough: If you want to compete with the big boys in New York, you have to pay for a professional-looking book cover and an experienced editor. These are the two aspects of self-publishing you CANNOT negotiate. Not surprisingly, they’re also the two things most people skimp on or skip all together.

<<<TANGENT ENDED!>>>

In a nutshell, I think indie success boils down to good planning. Whether or not INHALE’s “To reads” will turn into reviews, ratings, or sales remains to be seen. But I’m 100% certain that if you want to be a successful indie writer, you have to push yourself beyond your comfort zone and be ready to take the bull(shit) by the horns. Jump in headfirst and make it happen!
